Today, Dave's birthday and a day of remembering, was a beautiful day. His ashes were scattered by about 12 surfers and boogie boarders in Dana Point.
Dave is home.
This Shaker song was played at Dave's memorial by his Uncle Mike (who plays a mean bango). The lyrics are just perfect. When the day had almost petered out, Sue Campbell showed us how the song went.
This the Gift to Be Simple
'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gain'd,
To bow and to bend we shan't be asham'd,
To turn, turn will be our delight,
Till by turning, turning we come round right.
Soon we will post some segments of the memorial on video.
It was a beautiful day.
Dave is home.
